Had a great study abroad experience? Want to share it with others? Then become a peer mentor!

Peer mentoring is an excellent way to beat reverse culture shock. You don’t need to have a lot of time, just the willingness to share your experiences abroad with others. With our flexible program, you can either do a little or do a lot depending on your schedule.

Our peer mentoring program offers two different ways to become involved, depending on your schedule. The “passive” option is where you simply allow potential study abroad students to contact you, by providing us with your email address and permission to give it to potential travelers. The “active” option takes that a step further by participating in various events throughout the year. Some examples of these events include the Study Abroad Fair, International Food Fest or other study abroad promotional events. Active peer mentors are also expected to attend peer mentor meetings. These meetings generally happen once a month, usually don’t last longer than one hour and include free food!

Peer mentoring is also a great resume builder and comes with small perks. If you’re interested in becoming a peer mentor, contact a Study Abroad Grad Assistant at goabroad@rit.edu for more information!
