Founded in 2008, the Study Abroad & Fellowships Office works closely with students, faculty, affiliate universities and international institutions to provide RIT students with the opportunity to study abroad through over 250 programs in 50+ countries. Students have the option of studying abroad during any time of the year whether it is through a quarter program at one of our global campuses, an affiliated semester program or one of our unique faculty led programs.

These study abroad programs give students the opportunity to pursue their social, academic and professional interests in a global environment. By studying abroad, students have the chance to travel and experience new adventures, learn a foreign language, gain a different perspective on their major, immerse themselves in a different culture and develop lifelong friends among many other things.

Global Village Housing Cluster Applications Open

Applications to live in the Study Abroad & Fellowships Global Village Housing Cluster are now being accepted. The housing cluster is for internationally minded students who see studying abroad in their academic future. Besides living with other globally aware neighbors, residents will have access to numerous study abroad events and specific promotions. In order to apply please fill out the application that can be found here and return to the Study Abroad & Fellowships Office no later than January 20th.

New Language Lab Open

Study Abroad & Fellowships along with Global Learning are pleased to announce the opening of our new language lab. It is located right off the lobby of the office and provides courses in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Croatian. All courses are completely free and available for you to take at your own pace. The lab is open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 9pm and Fridays from 8am to 5pm.
The lab is free to use for all RIT students, faculty and staff.

Last Chance for Film Workshop in Croatia

Film Workshop in Croatia is now open to all RIT students! It is a chance to spend spring quarter in sunny Dubrovnik, Croatia making a film of any genre with Professor Cat Ashworth. Film Workshop in Croatia is a 6 credit class and you will take, at most, 10 additional credits at RIT’s American College of Management and Technology.

Tigers Abroad Results

This summer we gave little stuffed tigers to all our students studying abroad and ask them to take creative and fun pictures where ever they went. Upon their return, their pictures were submitted and voted on by the general RIT community. The winners can be seen above and are (from left to right) 1st place – Mara Goldberg – Dublin, Ireland, 2nd place – Anna Hood – Rome, Italy and 3rd place – Sara Meltzer – Athens, Greece.

Volunteer Before/After Your Study Abroad

WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) is a world wide network of organizations that links volunteers with organic farmers, and help people share more sustainable ways of living. In return for volunteer help, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about farming lifestyles. It’s a great way to live cheaply and really get to know the county and culture you are in.
